Founding Story
It’s 2012, pole is pretty unknown and two women walk into a local pole studio. Did they become instant friends….? Not even close! Those two introverts might never have spoken to each other, changing the course of VRV3 history as we know it. Luckily, they were paired together for a performance and through that duet, a friendship and sisterhood was born. Fast forward a few years, Anna and Mel had begun teaching pole and were fully in love with the art form and how it could change people’s lives for the better. But they just weren’t seeing a pole space in SF that matched their vision of what the pole community could become. So they decided to create that space themselves: a welcoming and creative space for people to dance, explore and find a chosen family. While celebrating Melanie’s Bachelorette Party in Vegas the dream slowly began to turn into a real plan. In 2016, they opened a small studio in North Beach. In that space they learned and started to grow their business. A cozy single-room studio where students became friends and even instructors. In 2019, they were able to open the current location in the Lower Haight neighborhood where they continue to grow their amazing community. Over the years we’ve had the honor of working with so many amazing instructors and students that we are lucky enough to call our friends.
Our Vision
A San Francisco pole and aerial community where everyone can explore movement, creativity, and strength—supported, celebrated, and inspired to fly.
Our Mission
To guide and challenge students of every level with safe, progressive coaching, and to foster a diverse, inclusive chosen family in the Lower Haight—where training feels fun, empowering, and connected.

Meet Our Founders
Anna & Mel
Studio co-owners
Co-founded by Anna and Mel, two longtime pole artists who first met as students in 2012 and built their friendship through a performance partnership. After years of training and teaching, they opened VRV3’s first studio in North Beach (2016) and expanded to 520 Haight St in 2019.
Their coaching style is progressive and technique-led: break skills into manageable steps, emphasize form and safety, and celebrate steady wins. VRV3 Studios - Pole Dance & Fitness is known for a welcoming culture where beginners can start with fundamentals and experienced dancers can keep leveling up in pole, aerial, and choreography.
